Canoe camp - Nez Perce National Historical Park, Orofino, ID. On September 26, 1805, the Corps began constructing five dugout canoes for the trip downriver. The Nez Perce would look after their horses until they returned. Twisted Hair and Tetoharsky, another Nez Perce, signed on as guides and interpreters. Old Toby and his son, the Shoshone guides, decided to return to their people.
